6 months!

Wow! A half a year old already. It seems like forever ago since Emelia was born, but time has also flown by. This age is so much fun. She copies everything you do and is almost sitting up on her own. She has the cutest little giggle and a smile that makes your day. Bless her sweet little heart.

Happy Halloween!

This Halloween was super fun! I knew it would be considering Laila loves candy and seemed to be interested in everything Halloween. I procrastinated once again with their costumes but managed to put something so cute together for the both of them. I had no clue what to make Emms since she isn't totally sitting up yet and it was her first halloween. I made both the girls costumes for $10. I decided to make Emmie a little red "Emmienem" and Laila her little candy monster. Laila originally was going to be the yellow m&m, but I wasn't too thrilled with how it looked on her. So I made a clip, recycled a tutu I had made for her last year and stuck some candy wrappers all over it. Her shirt was a gift from her wonderful aunt. They were both a big hit. Emmie passed out before the trick or treating even began and I was a little worried about Laila since she didn't have a nap that day. But she was too busy saying "Trick or Treat, thank you, Happy Halloween" to realize how tired she was. Laila, or should I say mommy and daddy, got a bag full of chocolaty goodies. We had a great time as always! The Little's always make Halloween a fun time!

October in NY.

My sister, the girls, and I escaped to New York to visit some family. We met my mom and spent a week at my Aunt Nancy's house. Just relaxing and enjoying the fall weather. This was Emmie's first plane ride and Laila's third. I was extremely nervous traveling with two kids this time. It wasn't as bad as I thought it would be. Laila loved the plane, minus the taking off and landing part, she was a little scared. Emms barely cried and both of them slept a lot of the way. We didn't do much except hung out with family and watched the kiddies play. Here are some pictures from our trip.
First night...s'mores...wasn't too cold but tasted really yummy!

5 months has past.

Emms is sprouting like a little weed. She has hit her 5 month mark and has experienced a lot of new milestones this past month. She finally got the hang of spoon feeding and is almost to holding her own bottle. New sounds come out of her mouth everyday. She makes the kissy face and kissy noise as well as some interesting farting sounds. The walker puts a lot of miles on it throughout the day. She goes all over the place. We are working on the crawling and sitting up...I'm thinking by next month she could quit possibly be there. No teeth yet, but she is constantly sucking on her hands...and thumb...yes, she is sucking her thumb. Laila didn't do that at all so it should be interesting as she gets older trying to break Emmie of that habit. Emmie already had her first airplane ride (will share about our trip in another post). I was looking back at pictures of the day she was born and can not believe how old she is already. This is such a fun time!

MIA.

Yes...I fell off the face of the earth for a couple months. But hopefully things are getting back to the norm. The summer flew by and I have been very busy. The girls keep me preoccupied and too busy to even blog anymore. Life threw a lot of curve balls at us shortly after Emms was born.

Emmie is now almost 4 months old. She has been rolling over, holding her head up all by herself, and has been eating off the spoon somewhat for the past couple days. I swear she is ready to skip the crawling and go straight to walking. She loves her bouncy seat and when she is being held she moves her legs one in front of the other. She is already scooting her way around the house in her walker. The best of all is she is sleeping through the night, almost a full 12 hours like Laila used to. Not as many naps during the day, but it's no biggie. Laila continues to smother and love her so much. But is a really great big sis to her! She makes Emmie smile and laugh and is always so concerned about her. She tells me "Don't forget Emmie" if we are getting ready to go anywhere and she wants to do everything "Like Emmie does". They will for sure have a good sisterly bond.

Now we are entering the end of the year and all the craziness of holidays and birthdays. I'll try keeping up with the blogging thing, but it's a lot harder to sit with two. Looking forward to lots to come...

2 months.

Emmie is giving us more smiles everyday. Her motor skills are getting much better. She is always on the move and is pushing her legs against you when you hold her. I think she will be crawling early. She can pretty much hold her head up on her own. The other night we finally put her in her own room in the hopes I can get more sleep. The first 2 nights she slept through the night with no feedings. I was a happy mama! She has been a little fussier the past couple nights but she will adjust eventually. I was looking back at pictures when she was a week old and oh my goodness she lost a lot of hair. She has her "alpha alpha" in the back top of her head still. It sticks up and is about an inch of hair. It's too cute!

Emms had her 2 month check up at the doctor yesterday and she is going through a total growth spurt. She's now 10 lbs 12 oz. and 23 inches long. In the 90th percentile now! I'm so glad she is packing on the pounds and getting some little rolls here and there. She already seems pretty advanced like Laila was. Already growing up too too fast.

Little Fish.

Last year Laila had private swim lessons and remembers a lot of the stuff. We wanted to continue this year but went with Seal Swim School so she can be with a group and around other kids. Her first class was Saturday. Her teacher Mr. Dustin was out sick, so she ended up working with Mr. Keith that day, one on one. She was screaming at first, but she seemed to warm up to Mr. Keith. I love watching her interact with her teacher. Made me realize how fast she is growing up. We have lessons 3 times a week for the entire month of July. Hoping by the end of this month she will be doing some laps around the pool. ha!

The 4th.

I always enjoy 4OJ. Poolside, BBQ's, fireworks, sparklers, and whipper snappers. We had a long weekend of festivities. Here are some pics of the girls (and one of me) from our busy weekend.

Oh Miss Emmie...

You are already 6 weeks young.
You bring me sleepless nights and broken sleep.
You are a little hungry monster.
You are getting so strong and lifting your head on your own.
You are finally packing on the pounds and growing out of newborn clothes and diapers.
You give full sweet smiles.
You love to be snuggled in people's arms.
You love tummy time.
You are so worth every minute.

E's Check up.

Wow! Emms is now almost 6 weeks old and she is a little whopper. She is now 8 lbs. 11 ounces. Even though she is packing on the pounds successfully, she is still a little pea to me. She grew a lot in height and is now 21 1/2 inches long. Looks like we will have another future super model or basketball player on our hands. We are so blessed to have another perfect and healthy little girl. Emmie is bit more difficult as a newborn then Laila was, but she is still easy compared to some horror stories I have heard. I think she is a tad bid colicy, but it's not too bad. She is constantly wanting to be held which makes it a little difficult when Laila wants me to play or for me to cuddle with her. But overall, everything is sweet as pie and I'm loving life right now.

Father's Day & One Month.

This was Jason's third Father's Day and with having our newest addition with us made it even more special. He is a great daddy to his girls and a hardworking, loving hubbie. I love our little family!

{My daddy...i love him!}

On this Father's Day, Emmie also turned one month old. It may have seemed like forever since she was born. With having sleepless nights, tons of diaper changes, and constant feedings...but time had also flown by. I already feel like I want to rewind and go back to her first day here. Happy 1 month to our sweet Emmie June Buggy!

{I loooove this sweet face...she looks too funny with her little smirk and crossed eyes. She has her little stork bite aka angel kiss on her forehead sent from heaven from her gigi and pop pop ;)}

My Liquid Gold.

This breastfeeding thing seems harder the second time around. I thought I would be a pro and be producing like crazy, but it's not working out that way. Emms is constantly hungry and my milk doesn't seem to be satisfying her. A couple days after Emmie was born, we had to suppliment her like we did with Laila. She lost 10% of her body weight and I was concerned she would just keep loosing more. So we decided to put some chunk on her bones with giving her some formula. I really didn't want to start her on that, since I thought the breastfeeding would be successful. I figured she was a pound tinier then Laila so breastfeeding would be easier and she wouldn't need as much. Boy...(or should I say girl) was I wrong. I am doing everything I can. I latch, pump, and suppliment all day long. It's exhausting...but am not giving up on the breastfeeding thing. I lasted only 7 weeks with Laila and really want to keep trying with Emmie. Even if she only gets some of my milk. She is only 4 weeks and I'm not giving up that easily. I even started pumping more throughout the day then latching her on so I can see how much she is getting. I have my good and bad days with the pumping process. Some days I get lots and others I barely get anything. But I'm sticking it out for now.

2 weeks young.

Life has been pretty busy since Emmie's arrival. I feel like I have no time to blog. Having two is a lot easier than I thought it would be though. Right now I have the lack of sleep, constant feedings, and keeping Laila entertained, but I got something really cute in exchange for all the craziness. And surprisingly, I am not THAT tired. My heart melts having another little one around. Baby E is already 2 weeks old. I feel like time is already passing quickly. She is such a little pea. Newborn clothes are still a tad bit big on her. It stinks at times because most of her wardrobe is 3 months and I can't put her in any of her cutesy clothes yet. There aren't many options in the newborn department. I was thinking we were going to have a bigger baby, like Laila. I don't even think Emmie is back up to her birth weight yet of 7 lb. 3 oz. It's amazing how strong she already is. She holds her head up when laying on my chest for a good 10 seconds. She curls up like a tiny ball in my arms. Total opposite of what Laila did. We really lucked out with her being a good baby. She sleeps well and barely cries. Except for the occassional "crying in her sleep" that wakes me up thinking she has a dirty diaper or is hungry. These past couple days she has been more alert and constantly hungry...gotta be a growth spurt. Each day is something new already. Feels like forever ago when she was just in my belly.

How lucky am I? I got two beautiful daughters! Life is so good.

Sisters.

These girls are my life. Now that our family has gone from 3 to 4, it feels so much more complete. Laila is such a good big sister. She is so sweet and is constantly saying that her sister is "so cute". She does have her jealous moments still, considering her sister is only 5 days old. It's going to take her some time to totally warm up. Laila and Emmie, my sweet little girls. I am so blessed.
