my guilty pleasure.

::Today's project::

::baby girl loved it::

On the day's with nothing to do, I find myself wanting to sit behind the sewing machine. It puts my worries and stresses aside. I always used to sew with my grandma when I was a kid, but now I feel as if every mom needs to know how to sew. I want to be able to teach Laila so she can teach her kids. Thanks to GiGi, she is making Laila a beautiful quilt that I am so excited to see! Once things settle down I want to make Laila a quilt with my own two hands. You can not get me out of Joann Fabrics. Every aisle I go down I am thinking of some new project I want to do. I guess being a SAHM can make you crazy like that. It's all in good fun!

181 days.

It's hard to believe that Laila has been in our arms for half a year now. As fast as time goes, it seems like she has been here forever. I can't remember life without her. I look back from the moment she was born to now, and our little girl is no longer little. She went from holding her head up to sitting up on her own, trying to reach for things to being able to put her binky in all by herself, smiling with no sound to smiling with a cute little giggle, reaching to grabbing, feeding her just bottles to eating any fruit, veggie, and now...meat. It just keeps getting better and better. Happy 6 month baby girl!
ps. I think I got a soon to be crawler on my hands!

Check up.

Oh sweet cheeks! Laila had a doctor appointment yesterday. She has blossomed to a whopping 18 lbs 6 oz and 27 1/4 inches long. Growing perfectly! She will almost be 6 months and now we can start her on some jarred meats, until about 8 months then some regular table food. I lowered her crib just in case our strong little girl decides to pull herself up while we aren't around. Which is what the doctor ordered. Next check is at 9 months, and I'm sure it will be here before we know it. Ahhh! So much to do...this year is flying by. I'm brainstorming on Halloween costumes, Christmas family portraits, and Laila's 1 year birthday bash. I love mommyhood!

chatterbox.

Either the neighbors think we have a teradactyl living in our house or they think we are beating our daughter. All day long Laila is wanting to talk up a storm. Her sounds consist of a high pitched squeal and screaming "ahhh!", using the m's and d's and sighing. It's so funny! She does it to get my attention most of the day. She is an attention hog and gets mad if no one is paying attention to her. My cheeks hurt by the end of the day because she makes me laugh so much. She giggles at the dogs and "mmmm's" after every bite of food I give her. I'm just waiting for the day when the words start coming. I just lowered the crib yesterday because I worry that Lailapop is going to stand herself up and climb herself out of her crib. She is too strong for her own good. Laila has got some personality on her. Her smile lights up a room and my goodness I can not get enough of it...that dimple!!! omg.

tell me this dimple doesn't melt your heart.

Drooly McDroolface.

I think Laila has been teething since the moment she came out of my womb. I live in a world full of drool and slobber. It's like she doesn't want to swallow her spit. It's so funny! She will sit, stare, and smile at you and a line of drool comes pouring from her mouth. It is quit humerous actually. The mom that hates putting bibs on her baby is the one that has the drooliest baby in the entire world. ha! Laila must go through 5 bibs a day and then I give up and just let her entire outfit get drenched. She wants to chew on everything in site. Body parts, the clothes she is wearing, and any item she can put her eyes on. She gets so entertained by everything going on around her. During feeding time she grabs the spoon and jar out of my hand so she can feed herself. She is finally getting a grasp on the life outside of a carseat/stroller and is now into the world of shopping carts. She LOVES it! Each day is a new adventure and something new. All smiles, all day...we were blessed with the happiest (drooliest) baby!

the girl loves to eat.

I don't think there is one thing Laila won't eat! She loves her food. Nanners, pears, apples, sweet taters, peas, squash, carrots and even prunes! I feel like my day is revolved around feeding her. Brings back memories of when she was first born and was attached to the boob. Even though this stage is very demanding I am enjoying it and happy to see that she loves everything that I put infront of her. Once she sets her eyes on any food or a bottle, that mouth opens wide. Let's see how many pounds she has packed on in the past month and a half when we go on the 22nd. Laila has thinned out but has sprouted up in height...she is SO tall! Laila weighs more now than I did when I was 1 year old!
Until next post, hugs and drools.

Fourth of July weekend.

We started our July 4th weekend early with Rebecca and Matthew's wedding festivities. Thursday night we got to enjoy the rehearsal dinner with some great friends, beautiful atmosphere, good food, and some toxic drinks! Laila was at the grandparents for the dinner and wedding so Jason and I had a couple nights to ourselves. As much as we missed her it was well deserved and needed. Friday night I got to see one of my bestest friends join the marriage world. Becca looked absolutely beautiful and the wedding was amazing! Afterwards, we headed to the chica boom room. I could barely stand at this point. So by the time 1:30 hit I was ready to hit the hay. Gimme a break...I have a 5 month old and am up at the crack of dawn. I can't party like I used to. ha! Saturday we celebrated the 4th with swimming at gramma and papou's and then headed to grandma and grandpa's. Jason and I were exhausted so we weren't really in the festive mood. But life is good and we had a great weekend and were so happy to have our little bug with us this 4th! Last year she was just a little peanut swimming in my belly.

new milestone.

I knew it was coming anyday now! Laila is sitting up on her own. She has sat up on her own for a couple weeks now, but it was the slouching kinda sitting up. Now she keeps her back straight and arms out to keep her balance. I have to stay by her because she is still a little wobbly. She is so proud of herself and absolutely loves sitting up. It's all she wants to do the past couple days. Wears mommy out because I have to watch her every minute. Again, I have to brag on how advanced our little one is. Sitting up at 5 months? c'mon!

btw laila...daddy's going to hate me for putting you in this shirt.

just like mommy.

::sporting her new mommyblockers::

As if I don't put enough crazy things on this poor girls head. Bugga couldn't be more cooperative with me. I got my own little baby doll to dress up! It's too much fun. Good thing Laila loves to shop just like her mama. We are in trouble! Watch out world.

5 blissful months.

Oh the changes she has gone through in a matter of one month. Rolling over, eating solids, and almost sitting up on her own. She is the light in my day and the twinkle in my eye. Hap-Happy 5 month bug. Next month is big...you will be a half a year old!

got prunes?

This was the most disgusting thing I have had to feed bugga. The smell almost made me gag, but it looked like melted chocolate. Laila loved them and again we had success on a new fruit. Her poop is a lot darker since I started feeding her solids. But she seems to have no tummy aches or reactions to it. My day is filled with feedings. She is eating the solids plus cereal and formula for breakfast, lunch, and dinner now. I'm debating on starting her on veggies tonight or if I should just try pears or apples. hmmm. I'll decide what I'm in the mood to "cook" come dinnertime.

Father's Day Weekend.

We got to spend the entire weekend with Daddy! On Saturday, we went to MOSI for the first time with Laila and saw the Body Worlds exibit. Then we went to do a little shopping at Wiregrass. It was deathly hot out so after we decided to head back home for some quality time with the doggies. On Sunday, dada got to go play some golf with the grandpa's while mommy went to finish up a little procrastinating shopping. We went to dinner with the entire family at Carrabba's. It was a great first Father's Day for Daddy! Many many more to come!

going bananas.

We have now entered the wonderful world of solid foods. Laila has been doing so well eating her rice cereal and oatmeal that we decided to start her on her nanners. Her first reaction was quit humerous. She gave that sour puss look and proceeded to open her mouth for more. I introduce each new food every 3-4 days. I give her a fruit and cereal every day for breakfast and dinner. I am going to start her on lunch too, but it seems I am out everyday around that time. Days fly by! So next we will try some apples, pears, and prunes (to keep that digestive system going). Then onto the veggies! Sweet taters, peas and carrots! As crazy as life is...i'm having too much fun with it. Stage 1 has begun, and I know before no time twinkle toes will be in stage 2. Then eating the adult foods with us. Goodness gracious!

update: Laila is working on her crawling and sitting up by herself already. She sits in her highchair and leans forward and holds herself. I'm in the market for a shopping cart cover now. Found some cute one's online, but i'm not too excited to spend $60 on something like that. ah well, we will see. Maybe I'll make one.
